ORANGE ROLLS

Posted by: Autumn
Recipe by: Deanna Flint
Grandma and Mom are famous for their perfect rolls.  I tried making them for the first time today for Christmas delivery gifts.  They tasted great, but they've got a ways to go before they taste and look like the ones I grew up eating.

RECIPE
2 Tbsp yeast
1/2 cup warm water
-dissolve and set aside

1/2 cup melted crisco
1/2 cup warm water
3 eggs
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1  2/3 cup mashed potatoes
-Mix Well

Add 4 1/2 cups flour and yeast mixture.
Keep adding flour until dough is no longer sticking to sides of the mixing bowl.

Let rise until double in size.

While it's rising make the orange filling.
1/2 cup sugar
6 Tbsp melted butter
grated peel of one orange

Roll out on a floured surface. Thinly spread orange filling along top of dough.  Roll dough up into long swirl.  Cut down every few inches to make each roll.  Place rolls on a greased pan.  Let raise until double in size again.

Bake 375 for 10 minutes, or until light brown.

Let cool for 30-60 minutes before frosting.

Frosting:
1/2 cup softened butter
8 oz softened cream cheese
4 cups powdered sugar
4 Tbsp lemon juice
